The Waipu Museum is proud of its reputation as one of New Zealand's best small museums. Its 'double migration' story, told through a variety of interactive exhibits, shows how almost 1000 Gaelic-speaking Highland Scots journeyed from the harsh conditions of post-culloden Scotland to Nova Scotia and then, how their 'search for paradise' brought them to Waipu in 1854.
